Introduction

The eMigra (www.e-migra.org) project is reaching an important phase. After almost a year of investigation on state of the art initiatives to favour migrants’ digital culture in Europe, the partners of this project are pleased to invite you to participate in the eMigra Workshops. In order to complete the project, add recommendations and most of all promote the interchange amongst the principal actors in this field, we hope to count on your valuable participation in these workshops.

The four partners of this project are: the Ciudad de Viladecans Foundation (Spain), AWO (Arbeiterwohlfahrt-Allemagne), the Ligue de l’Enseignement (France) and AEFOL (Spain), further co-financed by the European Commission, Education and Culture Directorate. With your active participation, we hope to provide with these workshops a place to exchange and elaborate recommendation so eMigra becomes a effective tool to promote migrants digital literacy in Europe.

Objectives

- Presentation of eMigra’s project on « best practices » found in Europe
- Elaboration of recommendations to improve policies and programs that aim at promoting and spreading migrants digital literacy

Specific objectives

- Give rise to a European debate amongst the participants of various sectors
- Promote an exchange of ideas and opinions between the participants
- Promote the participation of migrants in the debate
- Value the practices that have been identified in Europe, and in particular in Germany, France, and Spain

Participants

The participants include, institutional representatives as well as trainers, teachers, specialists, etc of various European countries, and of various sectors (immigration, education and training, ICTs, social sector, private sector, etc.) that are interested by the eMigra’s problematic. We will keep a special place for the civil society (migrants associations, etc.)
We hope to count on a diverse public so we can get an overview of all opinions, and put together recommendations intended at policy makers, and also people that work directly in this field.

Methodology

During the two days, plenary sessions will be alternated with thematic workshop sessions. The Thursday evening dinner will be offered in collaboration with migrant associations from Barcelona and surroundings.

Presentation of the « eMigra Workshops».

- e-aptitudes promotion

What practices and clues exist to promote migrants e-aptitudes and get over their particular obstacles? (pedagogical material, trainers, languages, access, etc.)

Practices : Ibn Batuta (Spain) and the experience of Esslingen am Neckar (Germany)

- ICT for education and eLearning

Do the ICTs in Education have a specific added value that improves the education and training of migrants? What kind of practices can show us this added value?

Practices : CITIM of Greta du Velay, and Schulen am Netz(Germany)

- Contents and online services for or made by migrants

Are there specific contents and online services that would correspond to the expectations and needs of migrants? Which are they?

Presentation of the state of the art: Anaïs Le Corvec, FCV
Practices : e-migrados.net (Spain) and forumrefugies.org (France)

In all workshops, there will be a state of the art presentation on investigations carried out on these specific matters.

Recommendation workshops
Policy papers will previously be handed out to all participants, in order to have a starting point for the debate. Recommendations will be oriented at policy making as well as at improving the daily work of professionals and volunteers.
